Kite FAQ Accordions
Student Portal
A student started a test but must move to a different room (or testing device) to continue testing. What should I do?
In general, a student should complete the test before closing Kite Student Portal. However, if a student needs to exit the test during the testing period, they should use the save button at the bottom of the test to save the completed work prior to exiting the test.
If there is no save button available, the student may exit the test without submitting the answers by rebooting the device. Answers input up to that point will be saved. Please contact Kite Support if you need assistance continuing testing.
How can a student exit a test after starting it (without finishing the test)?

If there is no save button available, the student may exit the test without submitting the answers by rebooting the device. Questions that have been answered up to that point will be saved. Please contact Kite Support if you need further assistance.
Student Portal Installation
Can I install Kite Student Portal on any device?
Kite Student Portal can only be used on supported devices and platforms. To view a list of supported devices and platforms, visit the Technology Coordinators page.
I am a network administrator for a school or district. Are there any URLs that need to be whitelisted for Student Portal to run on the testing devices?
To ensure smooth testing, you must add our application and corresponding URLs to your allowed list in your antivirus, firewall, content filter. This will allow the Student Portal application to successfully pass through any SSL decryption. Please see the Kite Suite Whitelist Settings (pdf) found on the Technology Coordinators page for the complete list of URLs to whitelist.
Should I install the .exe or .msi version on my Windows device?
Two Student Portal installers, an .exe and .msi, are available to download for Windows testing devices. You can install and run either one of the installers on your machine or a network administrator can push the installation to the devices that students will use for testing. The .msi package does not contain the dependencies that are required to run the Kite Student Portal, for that reason the .exe installation is suggested for first-time installs.
Educator Portal
Does Educator Portal use Multifactor Authentication (MFA) to log in?
Yes, Kite uses Multifactor Authentication (MFA) when logging into Educator Portal. MFA adds an additional layer of security by requiring users to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to systems and applications, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access even if a password is compromised.
After entering your password, you will receive an emailed code that must be entered to successfully login to Educator Portal. This code is active for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, a new code will need to be requested.
What are Daily Access Codes (DACs) and where can I find them for testing?
Daily Access Codes (DACs) are numeric values generated in Educator Portal that, along with student usernames and passwords, grant students access to high-stakes Summative tests. A DAC includes information such as the date and time it is valid, the subject and grade level, and the access code for each test session. They are available for the current testing day and the following day after 2:30 PM. For Monday testing, DACs become available on Sunday at 2:30 PM.
Once you have logged in to Kite Educator Portal, locate the Daily Access Codes by navigating to Manage Tests > Test Coordination > View Daily Access Codes. For more information or if you need help locating your DAC code, please contact the Kite Service Desk.
A Building or District Test Coordinator can modify the earliest and latest times that DACs are available for their district or school by navigating to Settings > Organizations and selecting "Edit DAC Time."
